Birthing with Meaning is a course teaching Jewish ideas and techniques to make your pregnancy and labor more spiritual. It is for religious and non-religious women alike. A must-have for any Jewish women’s institution’s curriculum!
It is given in any one of three forms:
1) A private five session series personalized to emphasize your individual needs
2) A five session series given in small groups to create a supportive, social atmosphere
3) A chabura is a Jewish study group where members learn together and grow together. Our chabura is an extended 12 week group program where women share and support each other while gaining essential tools to a meaningful pregnancy and birth.
The course is given by Mrs. Chani Newman. Chani has been in the field of Jewish education for over a decade, teaching in schools as well as informally. She believes that the Torah's wisdom is meant to enhance people's lives and strives to make it so. Chani has her BA in education from Stern College and her MA in Jewish Philosophy from the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies.
While studying and utilizing hypnobirthing for the births of her three daughters, she was inspired to further research Jewish perspectives on pregnancy and labor and to create this course. While hypnobirthing was the inspiration, the course is in no way limited to those who choose its methods, and does not promote any particular method for birthing.
Take these childbirth classes for the soul and you will wonder how any Jewish woman has given birth without them!
